The Green Team - Recycling and Rebates
- Cell Phone Recycling - Members of this committee handle the collection and recycling of cell phones donated at the front office. Collection and sending*
- Ink Cartridge Recycling - Join the team*
- Box Tops for Education - Ongoing throughout the year, although this responsibility is fairly minimal and you can work from home! Responsibilities include promoting all the various rebate programs (Ralph’s, Target, printer cartridge, etc.), the saving of BoxTop labels for education and bundling the labels per the guidelines. Join the team*
- Campbell’s Labels - Bundlers* Same description as Box Tops.
The Health and Safety Team
- Classroom Emergency Kits - This committee has responsibilities at the beginning of the year, including the collection of emergency kits (donated by families), ensuring disaster supply availability and process within the school. This committee works in conjunction with Brookhaven staff. Be a part of the Inventory Team
- Disaster Preparation Food Drive - Collection
- Red RibbonWeek/Walk to School - Red Ribbon Week is October 25 – 29 this year. This committee works with the school in celebrating and educating about a drug-free environment. Onsite activities support is needed.
The Extraordinary Valet Team
- Morning and Afternoon Teams - This committee helps with the leading of the Valet Program that runs in the morning, before school (shift is approximately 45 minutes) and in the afternoon, after school (shift is approximately 30 minutes). Responsibilities include set-up, assisting students and traffic control. It’s a fun way to get to know families and students and keep our school safe.
The Social Planners
- Family Socials - Family socials will occur in the fall and spring. This committee has responsibilities for design, set-up and support of these events. Helpinghands*
- Movie Nights in the MPR - The PTA will be sponsoring 3 movie nights this school year. Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up, student supervision and clean up. Helpinghands
The Arts Alliance
- PTA Reflections Art Contest - Reflections is an arts program that is sponsored by the National PTA. Responsibilities involve coordinating the program as determined by the set-forth guidelines. Other support includes the distribution of information and school entries. Activities, Mentors *
- Meet the Masters - This is a five session art class for our kids (sponsored by PTA). Volunteers help with the organization and distribution of supplies to ensure our kids can apply the lessons they learn. Get involved with project preparation
- Spring Craft Workshop - Members of this committee will assist with preparation of materials for our craft workshop. We also need volunteers to assist the students in completing their projects. This is an evening event.
- Brookhaven Variety Show - Our yearly Variety Show is slated for March. This is a very special Brookhaven event! Responsibilities include help with practices, set design and working the night of the showRehearsal/Show management.
Our Appreciation, Outreach and Hospitality Troop
- Teacher Appreciation - Responsibilities include providing goodies to the teachers on the first day of school and other occasions and celebrating Teacher Appreciation week in May by providing a daily token of appreciation to the teachers and staff as well as luncheon.*
- New Family Outreach - This committee is year-round, but is predicated on when new families arrive at our school. We are committed to making our new families feel at home and part of our school community. This committee also supports existing families at Brookhaven who may need support. *
- Caring Bears Outreach - The Caring Bears Cooking Co-op offers support to Brookhaven families by providing meals to families experiencing stressful times. Families who are experiencing any of the following may contact the “Caring Bears” coordinator to arrange meals: hospitalization, death in the family, serious illness, surgery recovery, etc. *
The Literary League - Food for the Mind!
- AR Support - Program Volunteers to assist with the Accelerated Reader program
- Library Support - Our library needs volunteers who can help in the library by shelving books and assisting the Librarian during student visits
- Book Fairs (2 per year) - Book Fairs are held in the Fall and Spring. Volunteers are needed for setup, working in the Book Fair assisting shoppers, and tear down.
The Shutterbug Club
- School Pictures - Assistance with school pictures. Picture day is September 27th. Supervision and support is needed*
- Yearbook - This committee is responsible for digitally documenting the year and working towards assembling groups of pictures for the yearbook. They also need support with Yearbook Sales. Requires strong commitment.*
The Communications Crew
- School Marquee - This committee is responsible for updating the marquee in front of the school. This is an important part of our school communication.
