Snacks/Lunches
For recess, your child may wish to bring a nutritious snack. Even if they are purchasing lunch at school, they still need a healthy snack to help them get through the morning. Our recess break is from 10:05 to 10:25. If your child will by buying lunch, please have him/her carry thier money in a zip-lock baggie or sealed envelope with his/her name on it. Additionally, if you need to drop off a lunch during the school day, there are designated baskets in the office where you may put your child's lunch so they are sure to get it. There is also a pre-payment plan which allows you to pay online or by check, and your child will not have to carry cash to school.
Water Bottles
The students are encouraged to bring water bottles to school. Unfortunately, we do not have a drinking fountain in our classroom. PLEASE make sure their water bottles have a sport pop-top to prevent spilling on desks and classwork.
School Supplies
Please do not send very large pencil boxes as they do not fit in the desks. We will sort through all the the students supplies on the first day of school. Below is a list of items that your student should have by the end of the first week. A more detailed list was sent home in the June report card and is available from the office. Thank you for your help!
1 shiny, 2 pocket folder
1 large backpack (should be able to fit a lunch
and folders inside)
crayons
scissors
colored pencils, sharpened
dry erase markers
a child size sock for an eraser
glue sticks
Birthdays
Birthdays are celebrated in my class and treats to share with the class are welcome. You may bring them in the morning and leave them with your child. I suggest that you send cookies, brownies, or ice-pops, etc. Cupcakes usually get the icing licked off them and then are thrown away, only to have a trail of crumbs left behind.
If your child has a birthday during the summer, we will celebrate their "un-birthday" at the end of the school year. I will schedule a date with you then if you would like to send something. Also, in order to avoid any hurt feelings, please do not distribute party invitations at school.
